EASTERN PAPERBARK WETLAND SELF GUIDED WALK

Only 900 metres from the Lodge is a permanent Paperbark Wetland. On the way to the bird hide, our guides will explain the full ecological dynamics of this ecosystem. The walk is also sign posted for bird watchers and nature lovers to walk at their leisure and individual pace.

HOSPITAL POINT SELF GUIDED WALK

an easy beach walk up to the remains of a tented camp – reportedly this was a hospital camp dating from the Victoria Settlement (1838-1849). The next ridge is an easy distance to stunning views of Gilligan’s Island and the Arafura Sea. Photographic Paradise….

A personalised reveal is offered here, of the magnitude of shells, corals, and marine life trapped by the tide in this interesting ecosystem. Explore Aboriginal middens and local paperbark swamp ecosystems also.

Seven Spirit Bay Resort

KENNEDY BAY 4WD SAFARI

Arrive at the long sweeping beach which lends itself to a range of walking options depending on the fitness level and interests of the guests. Following scenic inlets and cliff we reach a point for an overview of Port Essington, Smith Point and Black Point Rangers Station. At low tide, it is possible to traverse the base of the multicoloured, mudstone cliffs – a frequently featured local postcard location.

GUNNER’S QUOIN 4WD AND WLDLIFE/GUIDED BEACH WALK

After driving to the top of Gunner’s Quoin Cliff, we can see the majestic views of the coral reefs, tidal plains and islands dotting the Arafura Sea. Following a track down to the beach, we pass a rocky headland. From here it is possible to continue on to the Gunner’s Quoin Wetland. This particular wetland is seasonally filled, unlike the Eastern Paperbark Wetland.

CHAMPAGNE SUNSET WILDLIFE SAFARI

Depart the lodge by 4WD drive to Vashion Head – a low sandy point that juts out into the Arafura Sea near the far end of the Airstrip. This is savannah country, and a favourite with wildlife which often congregates around wooded seasonal waterholes. Your guide will drive near these water holes to try and spot the birds and beasts, before heading for the beach to watch the sun set. Multitudes of fish inhabit the shallow coastal lagoon backed by Casuarina trees. This suburb location is a great place to finish the day, relaxing with a glass of champagne or wine, whilst enjoying the magnificent “Top End” sunset.
